Primary 1 follow Hamish McHaggis around Scotland!

On 1st December, Primary 1 were visited by award winning author, Linda Strachan and one of the main characters of her books, Hamish McHaggis.  This marked the end of a Scotland project in which Primary 1 followed the adventures of Hamish and his friends as they travelled around Scotland.  The children learned all about Scottish geography and our folklore and traditions.  The children enjoyed recreating different Scottish landmarks in the P1 classrooms to help celebrate the journeys which Hamish had made.  Linda brought the latest adventures of Hamish to life as she read the story of ‘Hamish and the Lost Prince’.  The day was made complete with a hug from Hamish himself and our rendition of ‘Coulter’s Candy’!

Schools Expected to Re-Open Friday 9 December

Please read the message below from West Lothian Council.

West Lothian Schools to re-open tomorrow (Friday)

The Met Office advise that the current severe weather conditions are set to ease tonight. At present we are unaware of any problems that would prevent individual West Lothian schools from opening tomorrow.

It is expected therefore that all West Lothian schools will re-open to pupils tomorrow (Friday). This includes pre-school, primary, secondary and special schools. In the event that any school does have to remain closed, a Groupcall message will be sent to parents/carers and information will be updated on the council website, Facebook, Twitter and eAlerts systems as quickly as possible. Local radio stations will also be notified. Groupcall is the main method of notification from schools to parents/carers.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused due to the early closure of schools today. The decision to close schools is not taken lightly and, as always, the safety of pupils remains our number one priority.
